About Us

We are an evangelical Christian church

We’re a fellowship of Christians committed to following in the footsteps of Jesus Christ, our personal Lord and Savior, and to putting His teachings into practice. Our highest purpose is to glorify God, enjoy Him forever, and share the life-changing good news of His Gospel with others.

Who are Evangelicals?

We are a dynamic and culturally diverse group of over 700 million believers, found in many different churches and denominations across the globe.

Five defining points of our faith

1. It’s Bible-based

Our beliefs are grounded in the ultimate authority of God’s Word. We take Scripture seriously and are committed to living by its principles. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

3. It emphasises the new birth

Jesus taught that to enter God’s kingdom we must be ‘born again’ of the Spirit. This transforms our sinful human nature into a new creation so that we can start anew and live the live God designed for us (John 3)

3. It focuses on the Great Commission

The term ‘evangelical’ comes from the Greek “evangelikós” which means ‘gospel or good news.’ Our faith in Christ compels us to spread this good news of salvation in Christ, because we want everyone to experience the joyous gift of eternal life that the Lord has so freely offered us, Matthew 28:18-20.

4. It highlights a personal relationship with Christ

We hold that cultivating a personal relationship with Christ is essential to knowing God and for growing in our faith and in our service to Him, John 17:3.

5. It is expressed through the local church

The local church plays a vital role in the spiritual development of our Christian life. It strengthens our faith and offers practical guidance on how to apply Scripture to our daily lives, helping us to love and serve God and others.

It is a family where communion and mutual support are fostered, and it serves as a starting point for missionary work, Hebrews 10:24-25.

Our History

Sharon Church was founded in 1984. We have experienced many changes and challenging periods over the years, but God has sustained and protected us, keeping us united in faith and motivated to share the Gospel in Lanciano and beyond. We are grateful for this, and we trust that the Lord will continue to watch over our community as we serve Him in the years ahead.

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.

John 13:34-35
