We are an evangelical church
We are a fellowship of people who believe in Christ Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Each of us has experienced a personal encounter with God through being ‘born again’ in Christ, John 3:3. United by our faith in Jesus, we believe that our highest calling is to glorify God, enjoy Him forever, and love others as we love ourselves.
« You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself. »
– Luke 10:27 –
Who are evangelicals?
Evangelicals are defined by the Good News.
In fact, the term ‘evangelical’ comes from the Greek word ‘euangelion’, which means ‘gospel’ or ‘good news’. Therefore, the evangelical faith centers on the good news of Jesus’ gift of salvation to believers, and the importance of sharing this message with others. After all, good news is meant to be shared!
Evangelicalism is a global faith.
More than a religion, evangelicalism is a worldwide interdenominational movement within Protestant Christianity. It includes over 700 million believers belonging to various churches and denominations around the world.
Evangelical faith is based on the Bible.
Our faith in Christ and our spiritual convictions, which are rooted in the Word of God, unite us. We take the Bible seriously and believe that it should influence every aspect of our lives, choices and decisions. We are committed to obeying God’s Word and sharing His love with those around us.
Five characteristics that set us apart:
1. THE NEED TO BE BORN AGAIN
We are of the conviction that everyone needs to be transformed through an experience of ‘rebirth in Christ’ (John 3:3) followed by a lifetime of discipleship and obedience to Jesus.
2. CENTRALITY OF CHRIST
We believe that Jesus Christ’s sacrificial death on the cross is the only way to remove the penalty for our sins, and the only means of salvation.
3. SCRIPTURE-BASED FAITH
Our faith is solely based on God’s Word. These Scriptures are the supreme and ultimate authority on which our beliefs are founded.
4. PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH CHRIST
We emphasise the importance of having a personal relationship with Christ, following in His footsteps and living according to His teachings.
5. CHRIST’S GREAT MANDATE
As His disciples, we believe that Christ has called us to go into all the world, sharing the Gospel and making disciples while demonstrating His love in practical ways.
These characteristics define us
It is these characteristics and theological convictions that define us, rather than any political, social or cultural trends. Rather than focusing on any term, including ‘evangelical’, we prefer to focus on the core doctrines of the Christian faith: belief in the Triune God, the Bible as the only infallible Word of God, salvation through Christ alone and the call to go and make disciples of all nations.
Our community
Our assembly was founded in 1984 and is affiliated with the non-profit “Association Sharon.” We are grateful that God has preserved our assembly and kept us united in Christ. We thank Him, too, for keeping us committed to one another and eager to share the gospel in the Lanciano area and beyond.
I give you a new command: Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you are also to love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.
