We are an evangelical church
A fellowship of people who believe in Christ Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Each of us has had a personal encounter with God by being born again in Christ, (John 3:3). Together, we are united by our faith in Jesus and our highest calling: to love and glorify God and to love others.
« You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself. »
– Luke 10:27 –
Who are evangelicals?
The Evangelical faith is a global faith.
Evangelicalism is not a religion but a worldwide interdenominational movement within Protesant Christianity. It includes over 700 million adherents in many different churches, denominations and nations around the world.
Evangelicals are defined by the Good News.
The term “evangelical” comes from the Greek word “euangelion,” which means gospel or good news. Therefore, evangelical faith focuses on the gospel: God’s good news for the world in Jesus Christ, and on proclaiming that Good News in every corner of the world.
Evangelical faith is based on the Bible.
We are united by our faith in Christ and our spiritual convictions based on the Word of God. We take the Bible seriously and believe it should affect all aspects of our lives, choices and decisions.
Five characteristics that set us apart:
1. THE NEED TO BE BORN AGAIN
We believe every person needs to be transformed through an experience of ‘rebirth in Christ’ (John 3:3) followed by a lifelong discipleship of following Jesus.
2. CENTRALITY OF CHRIST
We emphasize the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross as the only way to remove the penalty of our sin and the only means of salvation.
3. FAITH BASED ON SCRIPTURE
Our faith is based solely on the Scriptures, which are the ultimate authority for our faith and beliefs.
4. PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH CHRIST
We stress the importance of knowing Christ personally, following in His footsteps, and walking according to His teachings.
5. CHRIST’S GREAT MANDATE
We believe that Christ has called us as His disciples to go into all the world to share the Gospel and make disciples, demonstrating His love in practical ways.
It is these characteristics and theological convictions that define us, not political, social or cultural trends. In fact, rather than focusing on any term, including “evangelical,” we prefer to focus on the core doctrines of the Christian faith: faith in the triune God, the Bible as the only infallible Word of God, salvation through Christ alone, and the call to go and make disciples of all nations.
Our community
Founded in 1984, our assembly is affiliated with the “Church of the Brethren” movement and the non-profit association “Sharon Onlus.” We thank God for preserving our Assembly through these years, keeping us united in Christ, dedicated to one another, and committed to bringing the Gospel to the Lanciano area and beyond.
I give you a new command: Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you are also to love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.
